Who we are
Overbuilt is made by Marcin Sleziak, publishing as Duct Tape & Dreams, Macieja Boryny 3, 05-085 Kampinos, Poland. He is responsible for the data described here. For any question or request, email support@overbuiltgame.com.
What the game collects, and why
An anonymous account. When the game first goes online, it creates an account from a random ID made on your phone. We don't ask for your name, email address or phone number. If you link Sign in with Apple or Google (needed for chat, Crews, sharing designs and purchases), we keep only the account ID Apple or Google gives us, not your email. If you choose a display name, other players can see it.
Saves and designs. Your progress and your ship designs are saved on our servers, so they're safe and can move to a new phone. To keep results fair, the game also sends what happened in commissions, Arena fights and Hulkbreak runs (your design and your controls), and our servers replay them to check the result.
Chat and reports. Chat is off until you turn it on. Names and typed messages go through an automatic filter, and we review what players report. When you report a message, we keep it with a few messages around it so we can look at it in context. Typed chat starts at 13; younger players only get preset messages. If the game asks your age, we keep only an age group, never your birth date.
Purchases. You pay through the App Store or Google Play, and we never see your card details. We keep a record of each purchase (the product, price, date and the store's transaction ID) to deliver it and handle refunds.
Gameplay analytics. We record how the game is played: sessions, commissions, building, progress and store visits, with the game version, your platform and country. It's linked to your random account ID, never to your name, contact details or advertising ID, and it never includes anything you type. It goes only to our servers. In the EU, the UK and other places where the law requires it, we ask before collecting it. Elsewhere it's on, and you can turn it off. To change your choice, tap the cloud button in the Hangar, then Privacy choices. Turning analytics off deletes the analytics linked to your account.
Rewarded ads (AdMob). Ads only play when you choose to watch one for a reward. They're served by Google AdMob, which collects information about your device and, where you allow it, your advertising ID, to show and measure ads. We give AdMob your random account ID so it can tell us you finished the ad and we can give you the reward. Where the law requires consent, the game asks first.
Install measurement (Singular). We use Singular to learn which ad campaign, if any, brought you to the game. It gets your install and a few events from your first days (finishing the tutorial, saving a first design, clearing a first commission, coming back the next day, and a range for any money spent). It's a separate switch, Ad measurement, under Privacy choices, and where the law requires consent it stays off until you agree. On iPhone, Apple's tracking prompt only appears after your first commission; if you say no, your install is measured through Apple's own system without your advertising ID. In US states with privacy laws, turning Ad measurement off opts you out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your data.
Server logs. Our servers see your IP address when the game connects. It's kept in logs for security and not used for analytics.
Who we share it with
Apple and Google (sign-in, purchases and the app stores), Google AdMob (ads), Singular (install measurement), and the cloud hosting provider our servers run on. Other players see your display name, the designs you share and the messages you send them. We share data with authorities only when the law requires it. We don't sell your data.
How long we keep it
- Your account, saves and designs: until you delete your account.
- Analytics: 1 year.
- Chat messages: 30 days.
- Purchase records: 3 years, for tax. They're kept for that time even if you delete your account, but no longer linked to it.
- Reports and moderation decisions: 1 year after they're closed, or longer where the law requires it.
- Server logs: 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it, by emailing support@overbuiltgame.com. You can turn analytics and ad measurement off at any time under Privacy choices. To delete your account, follow the steps on the support page.
For players in the EU and UK, the legal bases are: running the game you asked for (contract), keeping it secure and fair and improving it (legitimate interests), your consent for analytics and ad measurement where the law requires it, and keeping tax records (legal obligation). You can also complain to a data protection authority; in Poland that's the UODO (uodo.gov.pl).
Children
Overbuilt isn't made for children under 13. Ads and install measurement never run for players we know are under 13, and they only get preset chat messages. If you think a child has given us personal data, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
We'll update this page as the game grows, and change the date at the top. If we change what we ask your consent for, the game will ask you again. This website itself has no cookies, ads or analytics.
